Definition: a mournful poem

Usage of term: Elegies can be very tragic and sad.

Significance: Elegy poems can be very emotionally-touching.

13th term: Couplet

Definition: Couplet is a stanza consisting of two successive lines of verse.

Usage of term: Couplets can be very difficult to create in a poem.

Significance: Couplets can be extremely useful when an event in a poem requires more than one line to express.

12th term: Rhyme

Definition: be similar in sound, especially with respect to the last syllable.

Usage of term: Rhyme can be approximate rhyme.

Significance: Rhyme is an essential element of poetry, so we need to know about it in order to successfully understand a poem and create one.

11th term: Rhythm

Definition: the pattern of beats in speech or a line of verse.

Usage of term: Rhythm is very important both in music and poetry.

Significance: Rhythm can indirectly tells the readers the mood of the poem.

Definition: Attributing human characteristics to abstract ideas,

Usage of term: "The cockroach almost pierced my heart" is a type of personification.

Significance: When creating poetry, by adding personification ideas poets tend to catch the readers' attention a lot easier and make their poems a lot more interesting.

Definition: A character in a poem...

Usage of term: A speaker can be someone who recites poem.

Significance: A speaker needs to determine the tone of a poem in order to recite it successfully.

8th term: Tone

Definition: The pitch or change in pitch in a person's voice in order to distinguish the mood / difference of words.

Usage of term: The tone of a sad poem can be very low.

Significance: Tone is important in reciting poems in order to express the feelings of the poem.

Definition: Interpretation is a mental representation of the meaning or significance of something.

Usage of term: The interpretation of poems is necessary to understand them fully.

Significance: Express the importance of something in a poem.

6th term: Simile

Definition: Simile is a figure of speech that compares two unlike things.

Usage of term: Comparing someone who eats a lot to a pig is a type of simile.

Significance: It helps the readers understand one thing better.

5th term: Extended metaphor

Definition: Extended metaphor is a metaphor that continues into the sentences that follow.

Usage of term: Extended metaphor often use up two stanzas.

Significance: Sometimes extended metaphor is especially effective in writing poems.

4th term: Metaphor

Definition: Metaphor is a figure of speech used to compare two things in order to recognize their similarity.

Usage of term: Saying that the sun looks like the yolk of an egg is a type of metaphor.

Significance: Metaphor can be very descriptive and makes the readers actually "see" what they are reading.

Definition: Stanza is a fixed number of lines of verse that forms a poem.

Usage of term:

Significance: It's incredibly important to keep a reasonable amount of stanza in order to not bore the readers.

2nd term: Imagery

Definition: Imagery is used in literature to refer to descriptive language that evokes sensory experience.

Usage of term: Imagery words should be use more frequently in poems.

Significance: Imagery is very important in order to create a good poem as it needs to trigger the readers' mind to actually "see" the poem.

Uhm, define poetry

Definition: A form of literary art that uses rhyme and rhythm and repetition and/or other elements.
Example: Poetry can be in many types.
It's significant because we can learn how poet puts feelings into their works and create a poem on our own.
